Behavior Methods
Program Overview
Director:
Funding Goals: $8,000,000
The long-term care industry is first about people and their relationships. Planning a successful solution revolves around changing the the behavioral relationships of two groups of people, the resident and the staff. The resident defines the need; the staff provides the products and services to meet the need. A new long term care business model will involve the design, development, and implementation of strategies and resources guided by proven methods of changing behavior and that form the collaborative strength of disciplines and industries bringing critical understanding of the knowledge base, skill sets and attitude necessary to ensure a quality of life outcome for caregivers and elders.
The behavioral methods fundamental to the success of the both family caregivers and the long-term care industry have been demonstrated with countless successes in many settings ranging from automobile manufacture to retailing to developmental disabilities.
For the solution to acquire an quality life focus, a system for change needs to be built out of disciplines that support a common, structured, and reasonable understanding of the factors relevant to people operating in the circumstances of a complex environment - their actions (behavior).
It is within the guidance and framework provided by the behavioral sciences that comprehensive participation in the solutions to the quality aging crisis will be achieved.
