Empowering self-determination
Elder LifeCare Foundation is focused on energizing social action in a new direction based on reason, common sense and a clear vision of human quality of life and happiness. Current social policy that demands age-determined expectations serves to polarize youth from elders. And, instead of being captains of our destiny, we prepare to become victims of dependency.
ELF believes aging is a single life process and not a set of arbitrary milestones automatically resulting in ever increasing expectations of entitlements and the subsequent surrender of our choices. The pathway of constructive decisions begins early in life. ELF firmly believes that at a young age, citizens need to learn strategies that prepare them to take charge of the pathway called aging. Valuing choice, independence and self-reliance place people firmly in control and on the path of striving to thrive, anticipation, happiness and hope. Sole reliance on entitlements yields uncertainty, dependency and ultimately the consequences of loss of control: anxiety, depression, anger, stress and undignified death.
